New Hampshire Moose Parade
Moose and Scouts…some may say the two don’t really go together…others, especially those who belong to the Daniel Webster Council will call the two a perfect match. An event nearly a year in the making came to life on Friday, October 3, 2008 as 65 fiberglass moose sculptures were auctioned off at the Radisson Ballroom in Manchester, NH.

The 65 large moose were accompanied by 50 mini-moose sculptures, all part of the Daniel Webster Council’s New Hampshire Moose Parade, an outside-of-the box idea that raised a lot of money for Scouting. The main event was a black tie gala that included a cocktail reception and silent auction followed by dinner, a live auction, and special guest speaker Chief Scout Executive Robert “Bob” Mazzuca, who was introduced by U.S. Senator John Sununu. The fundraising event was followed by a daylong festival at the Daniel Webster Council’s Camp Carpenter Cub Scout Camp where the moose and the camp were on display to the public.

The New Hampshire Moose Parade was a collaboration of the Daniel Webster Council and many community partners. The fiberglass sculptures were designed and painted by students from the New Hampshire Institute of Art, and some talented artists at Grappone Auto Group. The moose were painted according to different themes such as Boston Red Sox Moose, Old Man in the Moose, Starry Night Moose, and Conservation moose etc. Each moose has its own unique story which can be read at www.nhmooseparade.org. The 50 mini-moose which are also up for auction were painted by high school students from Berlin and Gorham High Schools.

Businesses including AT&T, Riverstone LLC, Wal-Mart, Spectrum Marketing Companies, and Trails End supported the event. For a complete list of sponsoring businesses click here.
